Falling Kingdoms Is a fantasy novel written by Morgan Rhodes ( Michelle Rowen). This is a series of seven books. The story revolves around three kingdoms(Auranos, Paelesia, Limeros) that used to be united and called Mystica together. The main characters are four teenagers Cleiona Bellos, Magnus Damora, Lucia Damora, Jonas Allagon. The plot of the story starts when Lord Aron of the Kingdom of Auranos murders a Paelesian wine seller's son, Tomas. Princess of Auranos, Cleiona, unfortunately, is present at that time and fails to deescalate the situation. Tomas’s brother, Jonas seeing the life drain out of his brother’s eyes promises to take revenge for his brother’s murder. He also blames the princess for the murder as he believes that she was happy but in reality, she was horrified of what had occurred. From here the battle for justice starts, between Paelesia, a really poor land and Auranos, a very rich one on the contrary. The Chief of Paelisia, chief Baisilius is believed to be a god by the people, they pay heavy taxes to him thinking that his praying and meditating would save their land from being wasted away. The chieftain decides to help his people by foolishly partnering up with the king of Limeros, King Gauis Damora, who is also known as the ‘The king of Blood’ because of his intense blood lust. King Gauis has two children, Magnus and Lucia. Lucia is a prophesied sorcerer reborn, she is supposed to be the person who would have the power that would be able to awaken the kindred and save Mystica from withering away. Both the king and Chief together attack the kingdom of Auranos and are able to defeat the ruler, King Corvin Bellos. After his victory, King Gauis betrays and murders the chief, he then proclaims himself as the ruler Mystica, as all the three kingdoms are now under his rule. Princess Cleiona the only Bellos to survive is taken as a  prisoner of war and is forced to marry Prince Magnus so that the new king can win over his Auranion citizens. The princesses’ only aim after her kingdoms capture is to get her throne back, she believes she can do so with the help of the kindred. The kindred are trapped elementia present in crystal orbs. They were trapped by the adult watchers(elemential beings created to protect the kindred)  because they were causing great havoc. There are four Kindred which are the Fire Kindred, Water kindred, Air Kindred, and Earth kindred. At the same time King Gauis’s also desires to possess the kindred, he believes having them would give him god-like power. His sole purpose of defeating King Cortis Bellos was to get Mystica under his control so he could easily find the kindred. The story goes on from here. 

I absolutely love this series. It is so gripping and interesting that once you start it you will not rest till you finish it. It has everything from action, power struggle to romance. I absolutely recommend this to anyone who can digest a little violence. The violent scenes are not that detailed so the books are not really that scary but still. We have to also realise that some of the ideologies in the book that are rightly unacceptable today were prevailing in the society at that time, although the books were written recently it is based on the social structure that was in use during the time of Monarchs.
